The trembler centered about 88 miles off the southwest coast of California — near San Diego.
Residents in Long Beach, Newport Beach, Santa Ana and Temecula reported they felt some shaking, WABC News reported.

The earthquake hit at 2:36 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, or 5:36 a.m. EST, the U.S. Geological Survey reported on Friday.
It said the quake was recorded at a depth of 6.8 miles.
Initial reports said that there were two earthquakes that hit 15 seconds apart.
A tsunami warning has not been issued so far.
